Realign movement. Relieve pain. Restore function.
At Form and Function Physical Therapy, we use both spinal manipulation and spinal mobilization techniques to help relieve joint stiffness, reduce nerve irritation, and improve spinal mobility. These hands-on approaches target restrictions in the vertebrae and surrounding soft tissues that can contribute to pain, poor posture, or limited motion.
Why Choose Spinal Techniques at Our Clinic?
Our physical therapists are trained in evidence-based manual therapy and apply spinal techniques only after a detailed evaluation. Whether used alone or combined with therapeutic exercise and soft tissue work, spinal manipulation and mobilization can help reduce pain, improve spinal alignment, and enhance overall functional movement.
What’s the Difference?
- Spinal Manipulation involves a quick, controlled thrust applied to a spinal joint, often accompanied by an audible “pop” or cavitation. This technique can provide immediate relief from joint restrictions and restore alignment.
- Spinal Mobilization uses slower, more sustained movements (oscillatory or sustained holds) to gently improve mobility and reduce tension—ideal for patients who prefer a less aggressive approach or have certain health conditions.
Both techniques are based on orthopedic and biomechanical principles, and are always tailored to the patient’s condition, comfort, and treatment goals.
