Break up adhesions. Improve mobility. Enhance recovery.

At Form and Function Physical Therapy, we offer IASTR (Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Release) to effectively address soft tissue restrictions that limit movement, cause pain, or impair performance. This technique uses specially designed tools to detect and treat myofascial restrictions, scar tissue, and chronic tension within muscles, tendons, and fascia.

Why Choose IASTR at Our Clinic?

IASTR offers a safe, precise, and non-invasive way to address soft tissue dysfunction. Patients often experience improved flexibility, reduced pain, and faster return to activity. Whether you’re recovering from injury, surgery, or chronic strain, IASTR is a powerful tool in your rehabilitation plan.

What is Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Release (IASTR)?

IASTR is a modern, evidence-based approach inspired by traditional methods such as Gua Sha, but adapted for clinical use in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation.

How It Works?

Our physical therapists use stainless steel or medical-grade polymer tools to apply gentle, targeted pressure to the skin and underlying tissues. This controlled microtrauma stimulates cellular repair, collagen remodeling, and increases local blood flow, helping the body naturally break down scar tissue and adhesions.

IASTR is often used in combination with manual therapy, dry needling, cupping, and therapeutic exercise to accelerate healing and restore pain-free motion.
